eMathSmart is an educational service designed for children and is intended to be managed by a parent or legal guardian.

Parent or Guardian Consent

Where personal information relating to a child is collected through eMathSmart, the child’s parent or legal guardian is responsible for providing consent on the child’s behalf where required.

By creating a child profile and permitting a child to use eMathSmart, you consent to Popular Book Company (Canada) Ltd. collecting, using and disclosing the child’s personal information as described in this Privacy Policy for the purpose of providing and improving the eMathSmart service.

Information We May Collect

Depending on how eMathSmart is used, we may collect information such as:

• parent or guardian name, email address and account information;
• child’s first name or profile name;
• child’s grade level;
• learning activities completed within eMathSmart;
• exercise results and accuracy;
• learning progress and activity information;
• worksheets and educational content uploaded for AI-assisted checking;
• questions or prompts submitted to eMathSmart’s AI learning features;
• responses and results generated through those features;
• usage information such as dates of activity and time spent using eMathSmart;
• subscription, transaction and payment-related information; and
• device, browser, technical and security information.

How We Use eMathSmart Information

We may use this information to:

• provide and operate eMathSmart;
• create and manage parent and child profiles;
• provide learning exercises, feedback and educational content;
• process worksheets submitted for AI-assisted checking;
• respond to questions submitted through AI learning features;
• calculate and display learning progress;
• create parent progress reports;
• administer subscriptions and payments;
• provide technical support;
• maintain the security and reliability of the service;
• troubleshoot and improve the performance of eMathSmart; and
• comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

We will not use a child’s personal information for advertising.

AI Processing

Certain eMathSmart features use artificial intelligence to analyze educational content, check completed worksheets or respond to math-related questions.

When these features are used, submitted content may be transmitted to and processed by technology service providers that support these functions.

We limit such processing to purposes related to providing, maintaining and improving the eMathSmart service, subject to our agreements with our service providers and applicable privacy requirements.

Service Providers

We may use third-party companies to help provide services such as hosting, payment processing, analytics, email delivery, customer support, security and artificial-intelligence functionality.

These organizations may process information only as required to provide services to Popular Book Company (Canada) Ltd., and are required to handle information in accordance with applicable contractual and privacy requirements.

Some service providers may process or store information outside Canada. Where this occurs, information may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which it is processed or stored.

Parent Access and Control

Parents and legal guardians may request access to or correction of personal information associated with their child’s eMathSmart profile.

Parents may also request deletion of a child’s profile or personal information, subject to information that Popular Book Company (Canada) Ltd. is required or permitted to retain for legal, security, transaction or legitimate business purposes.

Retention

We retain eMathSmart personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law.

Account, learning and uploaded content may be deleted or anonymized in accordance with our retention practices after an account is closed or information is no longer required.

Marketing

Information collected from a child’s eMathSmart profile will not be used to send marketing communications directly to the child.

Marketing communications intended for parents or guardians will be managed separately and in accordance with applicable consent and unsubscribe requirements.
